Worked example of an 1841 Census Enumerator's Schedule
On this page is a transcription of the introduction page from the 1841 census of Kelsall. Note how the enumerator has crossed out the words that did not apply, and that the word 'Palatine' prefixes the County. On the original page, Palatine was added in pencil script, noting the special status of Chester.

Examination of this example tells us quite a lot that is not only about the census. It also reveals that this Township of Kelsall was in the Eddisbury Hundred which can be useful when tracing records back from 1841. Kelsall incidentally is a village about 8 miles east of Chester, and the interesting thing to not from the page was that even as a country village it still formed part of Chester's Castle Division click for next example page
